Northern Regional Organizer. We are looking for a dedicated, multi-talented northern regional organizer-who will be responsible for identifying, training, and uniting community leaders in the northern part of the state to fight for an end to child poverty. Our ideal regional organizer is someone who is driven, able to work with folks across different backgrounds, and has a track record for making things happen. You will plan community events, identify and recruit new leaders from different walks of life, organize state and local issue campaigns, and help build teams and support teams that are working to make their communities healthier. Pay is competitive (32-38k), benefits are generous, and expect lots of travel. Ideally, this person is based in N. Central WV, the N. Panhandle, or Parkersburg. We are especially looking for policy interns or volunteers to work on reports and data entry, AND organizing people to mobilize West Virginia voters! Scroll down for instructions on how to apply.
We have opportunities in the following areas:
- Policy Interns (6) - We are looking for 6 policy interns to work with us this spring or summer. These interns will have direct experience doing policy research for our 2016 platform, creating social media contact for those policies, and even working with grassroots community leaders and legislators to help spread the word for those policies. These interns will get to work with a wide cross-section of our staff. We are looking for one of these interns to be at WVU or Wheeling Jesuit.Fundraising Interns (2) - We are looking for 2 fundraising interns this spring and/or summer. Fundraising is the most important skill for a new organizer to learn, and these fundraising interns will have lots of opportunities to learn this skill - approaching companies, experimenting with on-line fundraising tools, organizing events, etc. These interns will work with our Administrative Director and Director.On-Line Management Interns and Volunteers (3) - We are looking for experienced web and data management interns who can help us create content for our website (and partner websites), build our lists, and enter data. Creativity is welcome. On-going. These interns will work with our Administrative Director.Office Volunteer (1) - We are looking for someone to work in the office to call people, answer the door, and data entry.Voter Volunteers (2) - We are always looking for folks who are available to register voters at events during the summer!
Here are the REQUIREMENTS for interns and volunteers. An intern or volunteer can be someone of any age (students, seniors, parents, professionals, and so on), and it most cases, he or she can be based anywhere in the state. Interns and volunteers must commit at least 10 hours/week (or more), for at least 2 months. We can work with any start date/end date. For our internships and volunteer positions, we are looking for people who can make a significant time commitment.
