Covering Kids & Families
(Robert Wood Johnson Foundation)
Covering Kids and Families works to reduce the number of uninsured
children and adults who are eligible for public health care coverage
programs but not enrolled. Covering Kids & Families operates through
statewide projects in 45 states and the District of Columbia and
more than 140 local community projects. In addition, 5 states have
CKF liaison grants that provide opportunities to participate in the
national CKF initiative.

Oral Health
West Virginia Partners for Oral Health is a project of
Community Voices, Inc., a
nonprofit, tax-exempt corporation whose mission is to support
community initiatives in health, educate policymakers on community
health and bring the voice of communities to a state health policy
agenda.
Start Healthy, Stay Healthy
Campaign
The Start Healthy, Stay Healthy campaign is a national outreach
effort conducted by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a
private, nonprofit research and policy organization based in
Washington, D.C. The campaign enlists a wide array of
community-based organizations, health and human services providers,
advocacy groups, program administrators and others to identify
children from low-income working families who may be eligible for
free or low-cost health insurance programs. The campaign also
promotes coordination between newly enacted state child health
insurance programs and Medicaid to ensure that children are not in
danger of being left without coverage.
West Virginians for Affordable Health
Care
A groups of diverse West Virginians concerned with rising health
care costs in West Virginia. WVAHC does public policy research,
lobbies the West Virginia Legislature, interacts with the Governor
of West Virginia and agency heads, educates the public about matters
that affect health care costs, and publishes newsletters and promote
conferences on health care.

This community site gives you and your family easy access to area
healthcare services and information. Currently, the Regional Health
Resource Center has information on nine counties in West Virginia
and several counties of Western Maryland.
National Initiative for Children's

Action for Healthy
Kids
Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK) is a nationwide initiative dedicated
to improving the health and educational performance of children
through better nutrition and physical activity in schools. This
effort represents a response to our nation's epidemic of overweight,
sedentary, and undernourished children and adolescents. AFHK is
composed of 51 State Teams, including one for West Virginia, and a
national coordinating and resource group.
Day One
The Day One project is an early intervention and parenting education
program with active centers at several West Virginia hospitals.
Faithful Reform in
Health Care
Faithful Reform in Health Care aims to help build a more
collaborative infrastructure among various faith groups
working for health care reform. They desire to connect current
research in values-based messaging with faith teachings to help move
the health care reform agenda beyond the issues that have resulted
in political deadlock.
West Virginia Council of Churches
The West Virginia Council of Churches includes 14 denominations in
the state, whose membership rolls approach 600,000. The West
Virginia Council of Churches has been active in areas of social
justice, health and economic issues, legislative issues and disaster
response.
